Panel research report: Jinko Tiger Neo, the panel Melbourne installers carry most
This is the first in our panel research series. We start with Jinko because our own directory data says to: 52 of the 110 Melbourne installer websites with brand information mention Jinko, more than any other panel brand. Whatever you think of the brand, there is a good chance it appears on your quotes.
Who is Jinko
JinkoSolar is one of the largest panel manufacturers in the world, shipping at massive scale for over a decade, with an Australian office and warranty presence. In market terms it sits in the value-to-mid tier: not the cheapest panels on a quote, not the premium price of SunPower or REC.
The Tiger Neo range: key specs
The current residential flagship is the Tiger Neo family, built on N-type TOPCon cell technology. Typical figures for the residential models sold in Australia, checked late August 2026:
| Spec | Tiger Neo (typical residential) | | --- | --- | | Power per panel | roughly 440W to 475W | | Module efficiency | roughly 22% to 23.8% depending on model | | Temperature coefficient | roughly -0.26% to -0.30% per degree C | | Product warranty | 12 years standard, up to 25 on some current models | | Performance warranty | 25 to 30 years, around 87% output retained | | Annual degradation | about 0.4% per year |
Exact numbers vary by model and revision, so treat these as the shape of the range and confirm the specific datasheet on your quote.
What the specs mean in plain English
N-type TOPCon is the current mainstream cell technology. Its practical benefits are the last two rows of that table: a low temperature coefficient (less output lost on hot roofs, which matters on a 40 degree Melbourne day) and slow degradation (more output left in year 20).
The warranty split matters. The performance warranty (25 to 30 years) gets the marketing attention, but the product warranty, which covers the panel physically failing, is the one you are most likely to use. Standard Tiger Neo models carry 12 years; some current models extend to 25. Ask which applies to the exact model on your quote, in writing.
Honest trade-offs
- Jinko's scale and price are the appeal: solid technology at a price that keeps whole-system quotes sensible.
- It is not the premium option: brands like REC and SunPower offer longer standard product warranties and slightly better degradation figures at meaningfully higher prices.
- Being the volume leader means installation quality varies more than the panel does. The installer's workmanship warranty is doing as much work as the panel warranty.
